Fae’s literary background comes from a BA in Literature and Psychology at the National University of Ireland Galway. In relation to literature, her interests are in modernist fiction and psychological discourse in writing. As an editor, she likes to focus on mechanics and structure and has provided editorial services with essays and other academic works. She is currently trying her absolute best to make reading her full-time job.
Lorna is twenty-two and studying remotely from Co. Kerry. She graduated in 2019 from NUIG with a BA in History, English and Creative Writing with honours. During her BA, she completed an internship with Evensong Publications, which affirmed her decision to pursue a career in publishing. She also hopes to open her own bookstore someday.
Mary-Louise Ryan studied English, Sociology and Politics at NUI Galway. She has always loved stories, and this is the main reason she decided to join the MA in Literature and Publishing in NUIG. She loves reading short stories and poetry and is intrigued to see what submissions we get this year!
Since finishing his undergrad, Tom has worked as a journalist, an English teacher, and a salesperson. When not buried in a book, Tom loves to surf and cycle. He is currently worried that he is stuck in a Truman Show scenario. If this is the case, he apologises for being so boring.
Ruth is an NUIG graduate who earned a BA with Creative Writing. Her poetry has been featured in various literary magazines globally. Her favourite genre of literature is creative non-fiction. She loves podcasts, puns, and popcorn.
Hailing from Donegal, Eimear spent her undergraduate years in University College Dublin, completing her degree in May 2020 with a Joint Honours in English and Sociology. Since then, she has moved to Galway. While she is honing her marketing skills on the Sales Team, she also enjoys lending a helping hand to the Editorial Team, to read all your wonderful submissions.
Cliona, from the Editorial and Sales & Marketing Teams, hails from West Cork, but now resides in Galway City. She did her undergrad in English, Classics and Creative Writing. She boasts a 400-book library, however, she only managed to bring a select few with her. Therefore, she is eager to read your incoming submissions for ROPES.
Natalia was born and raised in Mexico City. She completed her undergraduate degree in Modern Languages: English Literature and Letters at UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico). She then went on to do an internship with a literary journal, where she discovered her love for editing. She moved to Ireland this past August, and she can’t wait to properly explore the country.
Doireann is a part of the ROPES Production and Design team this year. She graduated from the National University of Ireland Galway with a degree in History and Classics. She is originally from Limerick but currently living in Galway pursuing an MA in Literature and Publishing. Along with the MA and working on ROPES, she is also working in digital marketing. She loves true crime and improving her Gaeilge!
Annabel is a recent graduate of the National University of Ireland Galway, where she earned a BA with Journalism. She is currently studying for an MA in Literature and Publishing at the same institution. She has had short stories published by the independent companies Mirador and Crowvus, and the literary journal Periwinkle Magazine.
Eva is a student from County Clare. She graduated from NUIG with a BA in English and Italian and is currently pursuing a career in publishing. When she is not studying, she can be found with her head stuck in the latest YA book, bingeing TV shows, or listening to music.
Philippa recently graduated from the University of Limerick with a BA in English Studies with New Media and Cultural Studies. She is now completing an MA in Literature and Publishing at NUI Galway. She is on the Sales and Marketing Team for Ropes 2021.
Mark graduated from NUI Galway in 2019 with a BA in English, History and Creative Writing. He is now pursuing an MA in Literature & Publishing at the same institution. When he isn’t working on his debut poetry collection, he can be found learning K-pop choreographies and re-watching Survivor, which he claims, “is much better than you’d think”.
Xinya Peng is from China. She is a Digital Media student studying in NUI Galway. She enjoys reading, painting, playing online, going to the movies, and hanging out with her friends. She loves art and wants to be a designer in the future and write more.
Sylvia was born in Kildare but has enjoyed living and studying in Galway for 5 years. Sylvia has worked in educational publishing in Melbourne, Australia, and is looking forward to pursuing a career in the area that interests her most - contemporary Irish fiction. For fun, Sylvia cycles, cooks, and loves going to gigs.
Heather brings skills and insights to ROPES gained from nearly two decades of experience teaching literature and writing. Having also spent time working in a printing factory, her opinions are valuable, articulated enthusiastically, and endured in the patient spirit of those on the receiving end of unsolicited advice.
Ruth graduated from UCD with a degree in English and is currently enrolled in the MA in Literature and Publishing at NUI Galway. With a history of working with children, she is enthusiastic about pursuing a career in children’s editorial or a marketing/sales role in this area. Ruth is a proud member of the Sales & Marketing and Editorial Teams at ROPES!
Jie has come from China to study in NUI Galway. She is honored to be a member of the Production & Design Team for ROPES. She hopes to have amazing growth in her team and that ROPES 2021 is well received.
